Since May 2017, Matthieu Lucas has chosen to share the stories of the rare and historical guitars in his collection with subscribers to the specialist website La Chaîne Guitare. The “backstagers”—the nickname of the guitar lovers who regularly follow Pierre Journel’s chronicles—have already had two opportunities to attend Vintage afternoon events.
These events are unique and offer a very rare opportunity to come and see legendary instruments.
The third Vintage afternoon will take place at 2pm on Saturday, 24 November. Registration is required and restricted to La Chaîne Guitare subscribers. The event will be held in a rehearsal studio, so that the attendees will be able to listen to some of the guitars at a proper volume on good amps. Matthieu Lucas will bring ten guitars to the event, including Paul Kossoff’s 1955 Les Paul Black Beauty (undoubtedly the big star of this event), Joe Bonamassa’s Royal Albert Hall Flying V and his 1983 Explorer, Gibson’s 1960 Tal Farlow signature prototype, David Knopfler’s (Dire Straits) 1962 black Stratocaster, and a superb 1961 sunburst Stratocaster.
Matthieu will be interviewed by Pierre Journel to recount the glorious stories of the guitars, after which the backstagers will have the opportunity to put their own questions to the collector, and will be allowed to play some of the guitars. There is only room for 25 lucky attendees, so sign up without delay!
