Among the greatest guitarists in history, few men can be considered on a par with Jimi Hendrix and Jeff Beck. It's an honor to have one of his Stratocasters at Matt's Guitar Shop.
When it comes to art, a number of avant-garde figures have stood out as authorities, breaking new ground throughout history. Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo were followed in music by Mozart and Beethoven, and in rock music by Jimi Hendrix and Jeff Beck. Jeff Beck was one of these, and his death was a reminder of the extent of his innovations and contribution to modern music. He invented a unique and inimitable technique, which made him one of the greatest Stratocaster players in history.
It's a great honor to have the opportunity to present at Matt's Guitar Shop one of his iconic guitars, played for many years by Jeff Beck. This exceptional instrument is a direct witness to his playing habits, and a reminder of just how exceptional a Strat player he was. This Fender Stratocaster Graffiti Yellow accompanied Jeff Beck on his Guitar Shop tour between 1986 and 1989, and is Fender's first signature series. He went so far as to admit that the neck of this guitar, designed and crafted for him, had an "incredible feel". It's a direct testament to Jeff Beck's guitar design, which made the Strat a symbol of the sonic possibilities enabled by the electric guitar.
