PRS Custom 24 Black Blood Splattered Ex Orianthi Alice Cooper

Sold

With his unrivalled sense of show and hard rock, Alice Cooper surrounded himself with talented musicians ensuring the architecture of his songs that he sublimated by stagings taken from the darkest and bloodiest horror films. The singer with the blackened eyes and the thick ebony hair built a new kind of rock, macabre and theatrical, whose essential goal was to surprise, to impress and even to shock. Every Alice Cooper concert was a unique show, but it didn't abandon songs made of good hard rock solos. When Orianthi joined Alice Cooper's band in 2011, she totally melted into the spirit of the band and partnered with PRS to make her guitars unique stage objects. This PRS Blood Splattered was part of the guitarist's arsenal every night she played with Alice Cooper. It's a one-of-a-kind piece covered in beautiful scarlet stains available at Matt's Guitar Shop!

Orianthi was the first female figure to join the Alice Cooper Band, like a breath of fresh air in a band more used to tattooed goths than blondes with hats. Always with a PRS in hand, the guitarist prodigy ensured with the legendary Alice Cooper, taking the light with guitars designed for the occasion. Perfectly matching the gothic staging of the made-up singer, she imagined this bloody model that totally captures the spirit of Alice Cooper: a white PRS Custom Made covered with blood spatters.

This stage guitar was made by PRS at Orianthi's request. It was used extensively during his time in the Alice Cooper Band. The contours of the body shaped by years of wear and tear take us back to the great hours of Alice Cooper's recent concerts. Orianthi's lively and animated playing on the back of the body has superbly eroded the varnish on the back of the instrument. This guitar was made for the stage: we find all the specificities desired by Orianthi, including a strip on one of the sides cut to accommodate his picks. Finally, note that this superb collector's item was exhibited in Atlanta as part of the "Wire & Wood: Designing Iconic Guitars" exhibition in 2019. An exceptional collector's item coming straight from Orianthi's collection.

Orianthi's career started with a missed opportunity: she was supposed to be Michael Jackson’s guitar player for the This Is It series of concerts in 2009. In spite of the superstar singer’s untimely death, the movie that came out allowed fans to appreciate what could have been Jackson’s last stand with snippets from rehearsals. Orianthi is heavily featured in the movie, and she absolutely shines, her PRS in hand, especially on the guitarist’s tour de force of Jackson’s discography: the Beat It solo, as originally recorded by Eddie Van Halen.

After that worldwide exposure, the young virtuoso took the opportunity and released her solo album Believe only a few months later. The record had already been finished in 2007, and the publicity given by This Is It was too huge to pass. Believe was a hit, also helped by her duo with Steve Vai on the instrumental Highly Strung, a video that went viral.

In 2011, Orianthi became the first female musician to join the Alice Cooper Band, like a breath of fresh air in a band that used to be all about tattooed goth guys more than hatted blondes. The legendary singer enjoyed that new experience so much that when Orianthi left the band in 2014, he replaced her with Nita Strauss, yet another female shredder.

After that new start, the Australian-born musician kept working on her solo career and also as a hired gun for the likes of Dave Stewart and Richie Sambora. Sambora enjoyed their alchemy so much that the two formed a band called RSO. The first album by that band, Radio Free American, came out in 2018 and was yet another success for Orianthi.
