We are incredibly proud to present a guitar of truly historic importance, known as the Bigger Bang Burst.
Serial number 0 1939. Just reading it sends chills. A genuine 1960 Gibson Les Paul Standard, the absolute holy grail of electric guitars.
This guitar was played, photo matched, authenticated, and signed by Keith Richards, founding member of The Rolling Stones and one of the most influential guitarists in the history of rock music. It was played backstage during the era of the legendary A Bigger Bang Tour, making it a direct witness to modern rock history.
This is not a pristine time capsule or an untouched museum piece. It is a real working instrument, played, worn, repaired, modified, and loved over decades. Every mark tells a story, and every detail reflects a life spent making music.
Already legendary, this Burst has recently revealed an extraordinary new chapter. It has been photo matched as an early Burst belonging to Gary Richrath, iconic guitarist of REO Speedwagon. It was his number one Burst, used extensively on stage across the United States, including major events such as Live Aid, and featured in official REO Speedwagon music videos.
And the story goes even further. This very guitar was also played and recorded during the 1990s by Larry Carlton and Lee Ritenour, adding two more legendary names to an already unreal legacy. Larry Carlton loved the instrument so much that he chose it to appear on the album cover of his collaboration with Lee Ritenour.
From stage to studio, from legend to legend, this guitar has lived many lives. It stands as a rare and powerful link between decades, genres, and some of the greatest musicians to ever play the instrument.
Following an exceptional setup by the workshop at Matt’s Guitar Shop, the Bigger Bang Burst is now more alive than ever. Without question, it ranks among the finest 1960 Les Paul Standards we have ever played.
